Marking World Heart Day (29 September), The Hindu had organised a webinar titled “Sudden Cardiac Death in Young Individuals: Understanding causes, prevention and Heart Health awareness”.
The session held on 5 October 2025 at 11 am, brought together leading cardiology experts including our Clinical Director Dr. Priya Chockalingam and Dr. K. Kannan, Director of the Institute of Cardiology, Madras Medical College.
The Webinar addressed the growing concern of sudden cardiac death among young individuals, focusing on risk factors, lifestyle influences, early warning signs, and preventive measures and also discussed current medical approaches and awareness strategies to help reduce incidence and improve outcomes.
Dr. Priya emphasized that many cardiac deaths are preventable through regular health checkups, physical activity, balanced diets, stress management, and adequate sleep.
